Meeting with students is an important part of academia. While office hours are posted by office doors and included on syllabi, students don’t always remember that.
Providing students with a way to schedule an appointment with you online is another option. Using a service, such as http://www.tungle.me/ will open the door to that option. You create an account, establish a public profile with days and times that you are available, and students can make appointments with you without having an account. More information can be found through the ProfHacker column in The Chronicle. It also provides apps for Blackberries and the iPhone/iPad.
Tungle is an app that makes scheduling easy.
