This original W.K. Vanderbilt building, erected in 1889 at a cost of $40,000, was the fifty mile mark from New York where the bicycle “Century Runs” of yesterday would stop to take a drink from the Vanderbilt well on the highway, sign the gueat books kept at the lodge, and take the return journey back to the city.
