The yellow pins on this map show the locations of the accessory buildings of William K. Vanderbilt's Idle Hour Estate in Oakdale, NY. These buildings were constructed between 1878 and 1904. The pink pins show the location of accessory areas of the estate, now lost or moved. The green pin gives basic information about the Artist Colony that was established here in 1927.
Today, most of these buildings are private residences. Please respect the privacy of these home owners.
Locations on this map are based upon a hand drawn map by Albert Coleman done in 1967 and available in the Dowling College Library Special Collections. Additional information was provided by Idle Hour Residents Rhoda McManus and Sally Kachel.
