This is the only known section of the original Estate Gate still in Oakdale. It is now located at the 5 corners intersection- across from the Curtin Student Center, and next to the Well. At one time it was located in Oakdale, somewhere along Montauk Highway, between the two gate houses.

Here is a view of the East Gate House, date unknown. In this picture you can clearly see the actual Entrance Gate of the Idle Hour Estate.

The actual Entrance Gate itself was moved to William K Vanderbilt Jr’s Eagle’s Nest in Centerport, NY in 1926. It is still there today. Notice how the scroll work visible on the Oakdale Gate, The Eagle’s Nest Gate, and the Well all match each other.
