Citing in the MLA Style
MLA Basics
- Give the author’s name as it appears on the title page
- Capitalize all important title words
- Titles of books or periodicals are italicized
- Long month names are abbreviated to their shorter form
Book Entry – One Author
Last Name, First Name. Title of Book. City of publication: Publisher’s name, Date of publication. Medium of Publication.
Bronte, Charlotte. Jane Eyre. New York: Random House, 1943. Print.
Book Entry – Two or More Authors
Last Name, First Name, and First Name Last Name. Title of Book. City of publication: Publisher’s Name, Date of publication. Medium of Publication.

Journal Article
Last Name, First Name. “Title of Article.” Title of Journal Volume.Issue (Year): Page range. Medium of Publication.

Newspaper Article
