Doing ethical research means citing sources. It is critical to credit writers for their work and their contributions to your research. To not do so is unethical and leads to plagiarism - unintentionally or not. Here are some sources to help you cite properly and to avoid the problem of plagiarism.

Adams, G. R., & Berzonsky, M. D. (Ed.). (2003). Blackwell handbook of adolescence. Malden, MA: Blackwell. This is a handy one-volume overview of adolescent development. This handbook’s focus is on all adolescent issues, not just those relating to girls, but each chapter covers an analysis of gender and sex differences. Commire, A. (Ed.). (1999) Women in world history: A biographical encyclopedia. (14 vols.). Waterford, : Yorkin Publications. This is an encyclopedia made entirely of women’s biography. “The scope is generally limited to women born before 1926, except for those active in the women’s movement or whose place in history is assured.” Reference HQ1115 .W6 1999
Forman-Brunell, M. (Ed.). (2001). Girlhood in America: An encyclopedia. (2 vols.). Santa Barbara, CA: ABC-CLIO. This is the first encyclopedia to deal specifically with the topic of girls’ culture. Throughout the encyclopedia particular attention is paid to race, class, and cultural diversity. Topics of interest which are included: Barbie, body image, and feminism among many others. This is a scholarly encyclopedia that is written with a decidedly feminist bias. Topics included are truly international in coverage. Reference HQ1115 .R69 2000
Lehman, J. (Ed.). (2000). Gale encyclopedia of multicultural America. (3 vols.). Detroit: Gale Group. This encyclopedia has information on approximately 150 different culture groups in the United States.
