Writing Center Policies

• work with you to develop your planning, organizing, writing, and revising skills.
• scan your entire paper for structural coherance but only one section for grammar. (We give you the tools, you finish the job!)
• help you at any stage of the writing process--but the earlier we see you, the more we can help.
• do our best to help you improve your overall writing ability.

• act as your editors, proofreaders or do the writing for you.
• work with you on take-home exams without your instructor's written permission.
• ask your professor to explain elements of the assignment. (That's your job!)
• evaluate or disagree with professors' grades or comments. It is our goal to help improve your writing in a general sense, not to ensure a perfect grade in one class.
• evaluate online submissions in detail if you do not provide enough specific information about your paper.
• rewrite your paper for you.

• bring a written copy of the assignment, relevant class notes, books and research materials.
• come prepared to discuss the reading and research for your assignment.
• arrive a few minutes early!
