Residence Life Handbook
Dear Dowling College Resident Students,
Living on the Dowling College campus is a special experience that will help you to achieve academic and personal growth. The Residence Hall is your home away from home, a place to relax and enjoy yourself; however, it is important that a studious atmosphere prevails. The opportunity to take part in a living/learning community is an integral part of academic success.
We build upon our mission of offering opportunities to our students by the way that we have designed our on-campus housing. At Dowling College, we have never had traditional dormitories. Our housing is designed to encourage independent living in a supportive learning environment. Each of you has the opportunity to be part of a living/learning environment that introduces you to a diverse student population. We encourage you to immerse yourself in your new environment and share your experiences, while learning from fellow students with different backgrounds and experiences.
You are a member of a special community characterized by living and learning on the Dowling College campus. Learn something from this multi-faceted community and give something back to it. Determine to appreciate one anothers’ differences.
This unique community offers you the opportunity to mature into a socially responsible individual who is prepared to face real-world challenges. This Residence Life Handbook supplies important information that you need to know as a resident student. Your understanding and respect for these policies and procedures is critical to a safe and friendly environment. Please take time to familiarize yourself with the contents of this handbook. If you have any questions, the Residence Life staff is ready and eager to respond to your needs. Let us know what we can do to assist you.
Welcome, again, to Residence Life. Be safe, have fun, and make the most of your Residence Life experience.
