Major: Aeronautics Professional Pilot
Dowling has successfully prepared individuals for positions as career pilots and aviation professionals for over 30 years. To ensure Dowling's position as a leader in aviation education, and to prepare our students for the next generation of growth and technological innovation, the School of Aviation is committed to the ongoing enhancement of our program.
Resources include the integration of multi-media classroom presentations, on-site weather radar, a state-of-the-art air traffic control (ATC) lab, realistic flight training devices, and a modern fleet of aircraft equipped with IFR Global Position Systems (GPS), color moving map displays, and traffic information systems (TIS). In addition, aspiring aviators will be instructed on FRASCA flight training devices that replicate our fleet. Plus, qualifying students have the opportunity to expand and apply their academic knowledge through aviation internships.
By combining our aircraft and simulation systems with our smart multi-media classrooms, we considerably enhance the learning process. In effect, we teach students to fly in the classroom and in simulators and utilize the aircraft to practice and sharpen their skills. The end result is a program that is affordable, efficient, safe, and state-of-the-art.
As a professional pilot major, you will become familiar with the operational, technological, regulatory, and safety issues that comprise the knowledge base of today's professional pilot and flight operations manager.
