Day 1 Thursday, July 12 Departure
Get ready for your evening flight with
Icelandair. Check-in at JFK airport terminal 7
for your flight to Iceland by 6:00 p.m. FI# 614
leaves at 8:35 p.m.
Day 2 Friday, July 13 Iceland (D)
Arrive Reykjavik at 6:20 a.m. Assistance and
transfer to hotel. Drop luggage at the hotel.
Walking guided tour. Afternoon excursion to the
Blue Lagoon. Dinner at hotel.
Day 3 Saturday, July 14 Iceland (B,D)
Full day excursion to Thingvellir National Park
G ullf o s s w ate rf al l s , Ge y s i r C entr e and
Hellisheidi Geothermal power station.
Day 4 Sunday, July 15 Iceland (B,D)
Full day excursion along the Southern Coast as
far as Viky Myrdal. See glaciers, waterfalls and
volcanoes. Warm clothes are necessary to
explore Solheimajokull Glacier. Special shoes
will be provided as a local guide will escort you
to walk on the glacier.
Day 5 Monday, July 16 Iceland (B)
Full day excursion to one of Iceland's top
destinations, Landmannalaugar geothermal area
and Mount Helka. Tour will end at the airport.
Icelandair flight FI#540 leaves at 01:05 a.m.
Dinner at the airport is not included.
Day 6 Tuesday, July 17 Naples (B,D)
6:30 a.m. arrival at Paris Charles de Gaulle
airport. Connection to Naples on Alitalia.
Tickets must be issued by April 10 or a
supplement may apply. Transfer to Hotel
Naples, in Naples on arrival. Remainder of the
day is reserved for some academic activities.

Day 7 Wed., July 18 Stromboli Island (B,D)
Early morning hike of Mount Vesuvio with
Alpine guide. Visit the Observatory at 600
meters above sea level. Transfer to the pier for
the 2:30 p.m. ferry to Stromboli Island. Arrival
7:00 p.m. Walk with luggage to La Serenetta
hotel, (no coaches are allowed on the island).
Day 8 Thu. July 19 Stromboli Island (B,D)
Morning reserved for some academic program.
Guided hiking tour to Stromboli crater leaves at
4:00 p.m. and returns at 11:00 p.m.
Day 9 Friday July 20 Naples (B,D)
9:00 a.m. morning ferry departure with arrival
in Naples at 1:00 p.m. Transfer to Hotel Naples.
Remainder of the day is reserved for academic
activities.
Day 10 Saturday July 21 Naples (B,D)
Full day coach transportation to go to Pompeii and
Pozzuoli. Visit Pompeii in the morning and the
Solfatara of Pozzuoli in the afternoon. The Solfatara is
the most interesting volcano of the Phlegrean Fields
made of approximately 40 ancient volcanoes.
Day 11 Sunday July 22 Stromboli
Morning flight to return to Paris. Connection with
Icelandair to continue to JFK via Reykjavik.
**Itinerary is subject to change at any time. Adjustments
due to revised schedules, weather conditions, or any
other reasons or an "act of God" may have to be
considered.

Peer into the depths of active volcanoes; explore glaciers, geysers, and spectacular waterfalls; visit a power plant and more this summer with the Dowling College Department of Earth and Marine Sciences.
The nine-day trip, led by Department Chairman Dr. John T. Tanacredi, is packed with a host of the most fascinating geologic sites in Iceland and Italy.

A non-refundable deposit of $1,000 is required and MUST be submitted no later than March 15, 2012.
