Prof. Wolff Publishes Ground-breaking Research on Bishop’s TV Program

Dr. Richard Wolff, Professor of Speech, Media Studies and Religious Studies, published a ground-breaking research article in the peer-reviewed Journal of Media and Religion. The paper examines the 1950s TV show of Episcopal Bishop James A. Pike, demonstrating how his program format emerged from his theology, with comparisons to the program formats and theologies of TV shows of Catholic Bishop Fulton J. Sheen (“Life is Worth Living”) and Protestant evangelist Billy Graham (“The Hour of Decision”). The paper is based upon extensive archival research and provides the first in-depth examination of Pike’s television program.
