Kathy Levine was the featured artist at the July 5th opening of The Icehouse Gallery in Greenport with "Nature Reconstructed" (a collection of her works). Two of her featured pieces shown here: "Reaching Out I" [44"x49"x36" Mixed Media] and "Closing" [63"x22"x9" cast paper, oil paint and nylon line].
In Kathy's artist statement, she expresses how her work comes together: "Our natural environment is disappearing, getting pushed into smaller and smaller spaces, often neglected, exploited, under appreciated and overlooked. Nature is important, it is also vital, dynamic and fragile...Most recently, I have been integrating the natural and non-living environments in my pieces in hopes of creating a new synthesis or way of seeing. The goal is to encourage people to think about their relationship to the living and artificial worlds in different and constructive ways."
