New School Leaders Named

Dowling College has announced the appointment of new leaders for two of its four schools – naming Dr. Walter Rosenthal, Professor of Marketing, as Dean (Interim) of the School of Business and Dr. Linda Ardito, Professor of Music, as Associate Provost (Interim) for the School of Arts and Sciences.

Dr. Rosenthal will serve as Dean of the School of Business for the 2003-2004 academic year and will play a key role in the transition to a permanent Dean, for whom the College will begin a search in the Fall. Dr. Ardito has agreed to serve a two-year term.

Dr. Rosenthal served as marketing director of several large corporations before operating his own advertising agency. He then completed a Ph.D. program at New York University and embarked on a distinguished teaching career at the college level.

Dr. Ardito has served in a variety of capacities during her tenure at Dowling including Chair of the Department of Music, Executive Chair of the Dowling College Faculty, Academic Chair of the Arts and Humanities Division, and Co-Chair of the 2001-2002 Annual Theme celebrating the "Contributions of Italians and Italian-Americans to American Culture". Dr. Ardito holds a Ph.D. and an M.Phl. degree in Music from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She also earned a B.A. in Music and an M.A. in Music Theory and in Musicology at Queens College of the City University of New York.
