Dr. Kevin McDonnell Joins Dowling College As Asst. Professor Of Computer Sciences

Dowling College has hired Dr. Kevin McDonnell as Assistant Professor of Computer Sciences.

Dr. McDonnell received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from Stony Brook University in 2001 and 2003, respectively. During his graduate studies he was awarded both a University Graduate Council Fellowship and a Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) Fellowship. In 1998 he graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. degree in both Computer Science and Applied Mathematics from Stony Brook University, where he was also a Fellow of the Honors College.

Dr. McDonnell is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Golden Key National Honor Society. During 2003-2004, Dr. McDonnell was a Research Scientist in the Department of Computer Science at Stony Brook University, during which time he also taught a graduate course in Scientific Visualization.

Dr. McDonnell's research interests include computer graphics, visualization, physically based modeling, geometric modeling, and user interfaces. His work has been published in numerous research journals and professional conference proceedings. He has presented at conferences and meetings held in Germany, Korea, China and the United States. Dr. McDonnell is a native Long Islander and currently lives in East Setauket.
