Dowling College and Faculty Agree to Three-Year Contract

Dowling College and the College's full-time faculty have reached an agreement on a three-year contract that will provide a four percent raise in each of the three years.

"I commend the administration and faculty negotiating teams who worked so hard to reach an agreement that is fair and equitable for all," said Dowling College President Albert E. Donor. "This contract agreement will allow Dowling to maintain reasonable tuition costs while we continue to strengthen our academic offerings."

The 135-member Dowling College chapter of the New York State United Teachers, AFT, AFL-CIO ratified the new contract on August 31, 2004. Along with the four percent annual raise, the contract also provides a possible annual bonus based on increases in enrollment. Other items include additional faculty cost sharing for health care and modification of the governance structure.

Dowling College also employs more than 300 adjunct or part-time faculty members, who signed a separate three-year contract in April, 2004.

Classes for the Fall 2004 semester at Dowling began on September 1.
