Dowling College Launches School District Business Administrator Programs
Dowling College has added two new advanced certificate programs in Educational Administration to fulfill the needs of professionals who wish to enhance their credentials by qualifying for certification as a School District Business Leader (S.D.B.L).
"It is essential that Long Island's school districts have a sufficient cadre of professionals available to satisfy the need for qualified administrators, said Dr. Albert E. Donor, President of Dowling College. "These comprehensive programs feature small classes taught by experienced professionals active in the field and fulfill a crucial need."
A School Business Leader Advanced Certificate will be awarded on completion of 33 credits of study including an internship. The Master of Business Administration and School District Business Leader (MBA/SDBL) Advanced Certificate Program offers students an opportunity to acquire a combined graduate business degree and New York State Certification as a School District Business Leader. This is a joint program between Dowling's School of Education and School of Business. Students must complete 18 graduate Business credits with a 3.0 GPA before taking any credits in the SDBL course of study. Students will complete 30 approved graduate credits in Business, 30 in Education and pass any state examination required for SDBL certification.
The new programs debut in the Fall 2004 term, with classes beginning September 1. Courses are offered at Dowling\'s Oakdale and Brookhaven campuses, as well as several off-campus sites. Prospective students can learn more by calling 1-800-DOWLING.
