Three Dowling College Rowers Qualify For 2004 Olympics

Current Dowling College junior rower Goran Nedeljkovic and former Dowling Crew members Nenad Babovic, and Veljko Urosevic earned the right to represent their native country in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece, after a successful Olympic qualification race. The three Republic of Serbia and Montenegro natives are members of the Light-weight 4 boat, which placed first on June 14 at the Olympic Qualification Regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland.

Babovic was a member of the Dowling College Light-weight 4 boat that won Dowling's first-ever national championship in 1999, and was also a member of the men's Varsity 8 that started a streak of five consecutive New York State Championships for Dowling.

Urosevic was a key component of the men's Varsity 8 that in 2000 placed first at the Navy Day Regatta, ninth at the prestigious Head of the Charles, and second behind the United States National team at the Head of the Schulkyl.

Nedeljkovic, a current member of Dowling Crew, was a member of the 2002 Dad Vail Champion 8, and is currently one of the top rowers in the program. Nedeljkovic has become the leader of the Golden Lions crew team and was sorely missed this past semester, as he did not compete for Dowling while training for the Olympic qualifier.
