Dr. Debra L. Fleming Named Dean Of Dowling College School of Business

Dowling College has named Dr. Debra L. Fleming Dean of the College's School of Business. Dr. Fleming was most recently Vice President for Learning, Assessment and Technology at Centenary College (Hackettstown, NJ), where she was also Professor of Accounting. She succeeds Dr. Walter Rosenthal, a longtime Professor of Marketing at Dowling, who served a one-year interim term.

"Dr. Fleming's experience, ideas and enthusiasm are most welcome in this important leadership role," said Dr. Richard I. Resch, Provost of Dowling College. "We are confident she will enhance the success already achieved by our Business programs and be an outstanding representative of Dowling College to the Long Island business community."

Previously, Dr. Fleming was the Assistant Provost for Academic Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness, the Director of Assessment and Research, Professor of Accounting and Business, and Interim Webmaster at Palm Beach Atlantic University (West Palm Beach, FL). She has been a faculty member at Ohio State University and Ohio Dominican College, both located in Columbus, Ohio. For the past seven years she has consulted more than 150 small, independent colleges in regard to integrating technology effectively into areas of teaching, learning and assessment.

Dr. Fleming received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) at Ohio State University, her MBA (Summa Cum Laude) from Xavier University, and her Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) from Nova Southeastern University. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Dr. Fleming has owned and operated several businesses.

Dr. Fleming has been involved with such professional organizations as the National Society of Public Accountants, American Taxation Association, Institute of Management Accountants, Financial Executive Institute, American Accounting Association and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She has presented her research at conferences and workshops across the United States.

Dowling College's School of Business offers undergraduate degrees in seven areas, leading to a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) or a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree. On the graduate level, Master of Business Administration (M.B.A) degrees with a variety of concentrations are offered, as are several post-master\'s certificates. The Dowling College School of Business is accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE).
