SAP America CEO and President Elected To Dowling College Board Of Trustees

Bill McDermott, Chief Executive Officer and President for SAP America, Inc., has been elected a Trustee of Dowling College.

McDermott, who received his bachelor of science degree in business administration from Dowling College in 1983, is responsible for managing SAP\'s strategic business activities in the United States and Canada, directing more than 4,000 employees to serve the needs of customers across the region. Headquartered in Walldorf, Germany, SAP is the world's largest inter-enterprise software company, and the world's third-largest independent software supplier overall.

"We are excited to tap the boundless energy and renowned leadership of Bill McDermott," said John Racanelli, Chairman of Dowling's Board of Trustees. "As an alumni of Dowling and a worldwide business leader of the highest caliber, Bill brings valuable perspectives and expertise."

Prior to joining SAP, McDermott served as the Executive Vice President, Worldwide Sales Operations, of Siebel Systems. He also served as President of Gartner, Inc. Before joining Gartner, he spent seventeen years at Xerox Corporation, where he held progressively responsible sales, marketing, and executive management positions, eventually becoming the company's youngest Corporate Officer and Division President. In 1997, through his leadership, Xerox received the Baldrige Award, considered America's highest honor for performance excellence, presented annually by the President of the United States.

Mr. McDermott is an active community leader and advocate for social responsibility in business. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Welfare To Work Partnership, a non-partisan, Washington-based organization that promotes career opportunities for former Welfare recipients.

The January/February 2004 issue of Selling Power magazine featured a cover story on the transformation of SAP America under McDermott's leadership. McDermott was also profiled as "an American CEO you might not know - but probably should" in the October 29, 2003 issue of USA Today, and was featured as one of the country's thought-leaders on information technology in the January 27, 2003 issue of Information Week.
