Dowling College Professor Elected President of Northeast Business and Economics Association

OAKDALE, NY – Maureen L. Mackenzie, PHR, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Department of Management and Leadership Townsend School of Business, Dowling College, has been elected as President of the Northeast Business and Economics Association (NBEA).

The Northeast Business & Economics Association, Inc., formerly the New England Business and Economics Association, was founded in 1973. The purposes of the association are a) to promote multidisciplinary research pertaining to business and economics; and b) to improve communications and to encourage the exchange of research, both applied and theoretical, among all interested parties.

These broad purposes are met by the continuance of an annual meeting and the publication of the Journal of Business & Economic Studies. The JBES is published by the School of Business, Dowling College.

Maureen brings over twenty years of management experience in the areas of operations, training, TQM, marketing, and insurance residual markets, to her academic role. Prior to joining Dowling College Maureen held the position of Regional Marketing Manager for Allstate Insurance Company's New York regional office. Maureen earned her Ph.D. at Long Island University and her areas of study are information and management behavior. The title of her doctoral dissertation is: The Accumulation of Information by Line Managers within a Business Environment and the Resulting Cognitive Savings Account. Maureen earned her M.B.A. from Dowling College with a concentration in Total Quality Management. She is the 1998 winner of the A.R. Zipf Fellowship in Information Management. The Human Resource Certification Institute awarded Maureen the PHR certification in Human Resource Management.
