Dowling College Grant Secured Through Support of Local Elected Officials

Dowling College Grant Secured Through Support of Senator Foley

OAKDALE, NY – Dowling College is pleased to have Senator Brian Foley working with the Board of the New York State Higher Education Capital Matching Grant Program (HECap). Through this collaboration, Dowling has been awarded $232,165 to be allocated towards the completed construction and installation of the Dowling College School of Aviation Virtual Air Traffic Control Lab, located at the Brookhaven Campus in Shirley, NY.

"This grant will enable us to continue our support of the training of our future leaders in the ever-changing Aviation field and we are thankful for the assistance from Senator Foley to secure this important grant," said Dowling College President Robert Gaffney.

The Construction and installation of the School of Aviation Virtual Air Traffic Control Lab took place between the months of November 2005 and June 2006. During this period, Dowling College purchased, constructed and installed a Virtual Air Traffic Control Lab (VATCL) at the Brookhaven Campus. Additional to the construction of the project, Dowling College provided funding towards instructor training for the VATCL. The training provided faculty and staff with the proper knowledge to operate and maintain the machinery and equipment. This grant will continue to provide funds to train faculty and staff to maintain this program successfully.

In addition to the grant for the Aviation Virtual Air Traffic Control Lab, Dowling also received $357,847 to be allocated towards the completed construction and installation of the Dowling College computer server room, located at the Rudolph Campus in Oakdale, for a total of $590,000 from the New York State HECap Program.

Grant Secured for Dowling College with Support of Assemblywoman Ginny Fields

OAKDALE, NY – Dowling College was pleased to work closely with Assemblywoman Ginny Fields to secure a grant for $357,847 from the New York State Higher Education Capital Matching Grant Program (HECap). This grant money is to be allocated towards the completed construction and installation of the Dowling College computer server room, located at the Rudolph Campus in Oakdale, NY.

"This grant will enable us to help keep all of our students up-to-date with our technology and computer operations and we are thankful for the support from Ginny Fields on this endeavor," said Dowling College President Robert Gaffney.

The funds allocated towards the completed construction and installation of the Dowling College server room will also be used towards the past and continued support of the Dowling College Computer Acquisition and Technology Upgrade project (D.C.C.A.T.U) which spans both the Rudolph and Brookhaven Campuses. This project was planned to be completed in three phases. Phases I and II have already been completed while progress towards Phase III is currently ongoing. During these phases, Dowling College purchased, constructed and installed a new server room to support computer operations across both campuses. Additional to the construction of the server room, Dowling College continues to providing funding towards necessary computer acquisitions.
