Donation from NBTY Helping Hands Charity Supports Dowling College $2,000,000 Special Scholarship Program

OAKDALE, NY – Dowling College President Robert J. Gaffney announced that Dowling College has partnered with the NBTY Helping Hands Charity to create a special $2,000,000 Dowling scholarship program that will help recruit and retain talented students who otherwise could not afford to attend a private Long Island college.

"The NBTY Helping Hands Charity shares the Dowling College vision of providing deserving students with broad access to quality higher education", said Scott Rudolph, NBTY Chairman & CEO and Vice Chair of the Dowling College Board of Trustees. "We look forward to other community minded organizations and individuals generously joining us in our support of Dowling and the students we serve," said Mr. Rudolph.

The gift from NBTY Helping Hands Charity will add many additional scholarships to the more than $10,000,000 in scholarships new and present Dowling students are already receiving for the 2009/2010 academic year.

"We thank Scott Rudolph and NBTY Helping Hands Charity. Today more than ever a college degree must be available to students who desire to achieve their goals in career and life. Through this generous support of scholarships there will be a most positive impact on the lives of students, their families and their communities," said President Gaffney.
