Dowling College Hosts Science Symposium Addressing 100 Participants

OAKDALE, NY – Dowling College presents the American Chemical Society/National Science Foundation Symposium featuring Dr. Paul Bishop and Keynote Speakers Robert J. Gaffney, President Dowling College, and Hon. Steve Israel, House of Representatives. This event will take place on Friday, June 5th from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. in the Fortunoff Hall Ballroom at the Rudolph Campus in Oakdale. This event is free and open to the public.

During this time, Keynote Speakers President Robert J. Gaffney and Representative Steve Israel will speak on science research and technology and its relationship to Higher Education. Both speakers will provide an interesting perspective as they dissect the relationship, responsibilities and influence that elected officials and institutions of higher learning have on the development and support of leading edge research in the fields of science and technology.

The featured guest, Dr. Paul Bishop, Program Director, Division of Chemical, Bioengineering, Environmental and Transport Systems (CBET), from the National Science Foundation, will lecture from his personal research and findings related to the topics of science and the environment. Additionally, Dr. Bishop will provide an insiders' view on the prospects of grant making and seeking as well. Dr. Bishop will be available for one-on-one 15-minute meetings to be scheduled between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Please note that an open interactive session with all the guest speakers will be conducted between 11:00 and 11:45 a.m. Light refreshments and breakfast will be served.
