Dowling College Alumnus Receives $808,500 Grant

OAKDALE, NY – Dowling College Alumnus, Hamilton Merilus, B.A., '04, a Patchogue resident, is currently Director of Home At Last, IAP, Mental Health Association of Nassau in Hempstead, and has recently been awarded a grant which will provide permanent housing with case management services to Chronically Homeless adults in Nassau County. The complete amount of the award is $808,500, provided by the Housing Urban Development. Mr. Merilus had put together a comprehensive presentation for a class he is taking for his Master's at Dowling College on Community Building. This successful classroom presentation turned into a grant application, which was selected above the many other agencies that applied.
