Dowling College Student Receives $5,000 Scholarship from the Wings Club

Eric DiGiovanna, a Senior in the Dowling College School of Aviation, recently received a $5,000 scholarship from John Feren, the President of the Wings Club. The occasion was the annual formal dinner dance for the Wings Club members, included close to 1,000 members and guests. The Club is the most prestigious organization in the Aviation Industry. Its members include the CEOs, Presidents and officers of the airlines, the aircraft manufacturers, engine manufacturers, aviation law firms, aviation insurance firms, maintenance firms, training companies, avionics, and various firms allied with the industry.

Eric was one of five aviation students awarded scholarships that night. Eric was selected from a field of outstanding candidates in the School of Aviation by the Faculty based on an essay and an interview. It is always difficult to select one student from such a wealth of talent and accomplishment, reported Assistant Professor Thomas Cushing, Chair of the School of Aviation. We always wish we had enough scholarships for all of the candidates.
