Free Classes at Dowling College Help Smokers Learn To Be Tobacco Free

OAKDALE, NY – With the help of Dowling College, you CAN quit smoking. Quitting smoking has immediate as well as long-term benefits for you and your loved ones. Using proven cessation treatments, such as group counseling, can double your chance of success. Learn to be tobacco free with this helpful smoking cessation program that is free and open to the public.

This program will be held at Dowling's Brookhaven Campus in Room B123 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays on June 3, 10, 17, 24; July 1, 8 & 29, 2008.

Participants will:

  • Learn strategies and receive support to stop smoking
  • Learn skills to stay tobacco-free
  • Free private consultation for evaluation by a nurse practitioner for medicine to help you quit
  • Certificate earned for completion
This six-week program teaches skills & strategies to build awareness and uses group support to empower the individual who wishes to quit smoking. This program is sponsored by Suffolk County Department of Health Education and Dowling College Health Services.
