Nominate Your Best Teacher for the Dowling College/News 12 Educator of the Month Award

Every school has those special teachers who go above and beyond the call of duty and make a difference in the lives of their students. Each year Dowling College and New 12 Long Island recognizes those unique educators who add value to the community's success. In an effort to support these exceptional professionals, please nominate your best teacher for consideration as a 2007-2008 Dowling College/News 12 Long Island Educator of the Month.

This coming September, a distinguished committee of educators will select all of the monthly winners for the 2007-2008 school year. Dr. Clyde Payne, Dowling College's Dean of the School of Education, along with Kelly Kazemier, Dowling College's Director of Communications, will visit each winner's school to personally present their award. At that time, photographs will be taken to be used to produce a video to be aired on News 12. In June 2008, the award winners and their guests will be out guests at a special dinner held in their honor.

School Principals are asked to help Dowling honor Long Island's educational treasures by nominating their best teachers. School Principals can send their personal letter of recommendation, a resume of the nominated teacher and any additional letters of support and backup materials (newspaper articles, special recognitions, etc) in support of the candidate. All submissions of nominating materials need to be sent to Dr. Clyde Payne by September 1, 2007.

Dr. Clyde Payne, Dowling College's Dean of the School of Education says, "Since Long Island is known for having the best teachers in the nation, and we received so many nominations from across Nassau and Suffolk, we look forward to receiving impressive nominations as we prepare to honor the best of the best."
