Dowling College Blood Drive Scheduled At Oakdale and Brookhaven

OAKDALE, NY - Long Island Blood Services will conduct a blood drive at Dowling College's two campuses on Monday, April 16th. The hours of the blood drive will be 10 AM to 8 PM in Fortunoff Hall on the Rudolph Campus in Oakdale, and from 3 PM to 8 PM in the Dormitory Building of the Brookhaven Campus in Shirley.

Long Island is experiencing a dire need for donations to its blood supply, and the public is encouraged to donate alongside Dowling students, faculty and staff. Recent FDA regulations prevent importation of blood from Europe, so Long Island Blood Services must make up a 25% decrease in its supply. Please give blood and bring a friend to campus to do the same.

In order to donate blood, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Bring valid ID (such as driver's license) and know your Social Security number
  • Minimum weight 110 lbs.
  • Ages: 17-76 (16 with parent)
  • Eat well prior to giving blood (low fat foods) and drink fluids
  • No tattoos during past 12 months
To discuss any medical concerns regarding blood donations, please call 1-800-688-0900.
