Now those living and working in Nassau County and Western Suffolk can conveniently take graduate courses in business and education in evening classes at Dowling College's new Melville facility, located at 145 Pinelawn Road, Suite 350 South.
Graduate business classes begin February 23 with start times of 5:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Graduate-level childhood education courses meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays commencing February 24 and running through June 10.
"With start times of 4 p.m. and 6:15 p.m., these graduate education classes are convenient to people working in the Route 110 corridor, as well as residents throughout much of Nassau County and Western Suffolk," noted Dr. Clyde Payne, Associate Provost for Dowling College's School of Education.
"We find that many people in the corporate world are interested in making a career change," said Evette Beckett-Tuggle, Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Services. "This is the perfect opportunity to work towards becoming a teacher while continuing in a full-time job. Also, this session begins later than our regular spring term, so students have extra time to enroll and complete their coursework before the summer."
The four different three-credit graduate education courses represent the core requirements for elementary teacher certification. Class times are 4 p.m. - 6:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. - 8 p.m. Click here for class schedules.
Details on the courses offered and information on enrolling at Dowling College can be obtained by attending a special Open House event at Dowling's Melville location on Tuesday, February 3 at 4 p.m., or calling 1-800-DOWLING. Dowling College also recently announced the addition of weekend undergraduate and graduate education classes at its Rudolph Campus in Oakdale and Brookhaven Campus in Shirley.
