Dowling College President Robert Gaffney Named to Building Long Island Advisory Board

Robert Gaffney, President of Dowling College, has been named to the Advisory Board of Building Long Island, an upstart real estate trade publication. The magazine, founded by Deborah Herman, will be published bi-monthly and is geared toward Long Island's real estate community.
Gaffney, the former Suffolk County Executive and most recently a partner in the law firm of Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, P.C., assumed the Presidency of Dowling College in October 2006.
During three consecutive terms as Suffolk County Executive, Gaffney played a major role in promoting the interests of the Long Island region on the state and national levels. He served as President of the New York State of Counties from 1994-1995 and as President of the New York State County Executives Association from 1995-1996. He also served on the National Association of Counties Large Urban County Caucus, and on the New York Metropolitan Transportation Coordinating Committee.
Gaffney was instrumental in the creation of the Central Pine Barrens Joint Planning and Policy Commission and served as the Commission's first chairman.
Gaffney also serves on the Boards of the Long Island Housing Partnership and Peconic Bay Medical Center among others, and is a member of the Riverhead Industrial Development Agency.
