An Evening of Cabaret Slated for August 5 at Dowling College Proceeds to Benefit Drama Club

Singer/actor Frank Zagottis will bring his critically acclaimed cabaret show "BACK-2-BASICS" to Dowling College's Performing Arts Center on Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
OAKDALE, NY - Singer/actor Frank Zagottis will bring his critically acclaimed cabaret show BACK-2-BASICS to Dowling College's Performing Arts Center on Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. His pop versatility, theatricality and personal life experiences combine to create a night of musical entertainment with touches of poignancy and humor. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Dowling College Drama Club.

Rather than creating a more conventional evening of cabaret filled with nightclub standards or show-tune torches, Zagottis has created an evening of unique material from different musical genres. All of which when combined take the audience somewhat of a musical journey; one that explores what we go through when we "look back at where we've been, so that we can know where we're going." BACK-2-BASICS is directed by Bill Daugherty and written by Zagottis with musical direction by Mario Sprouse.

According to John Hoglund of Back Stage, "Zagottis has a beautiful voice and a warm personality that is sure to gain him considerable attention. Zagottis created some magical moments. His gusty vocal inflections carried the show, giving each song a sense of purpose."

General admission costs $15 per person. Dowling College students with a current valid Dowling identification card are asked to donate $7 for admission. Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling 631-244-5037. Reservations will be held at the box office until 15 minutes before each performance.
