Historical Walk/Run to Benefit Oakdale Train Station Clock Fund Slated for June 11

Dowling College, in partnership with the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce and Oakdale Civic Association, is hosting "It's About Time," a historic walk/run to benefit the Oakdale Train Station Clock Beautification Fund. The event, which starts and ends at The Well located at Dowling's Rudolph Campus in Oakdale, will take place on Sunday, June 11, with registration starting at 8 a.m. (rain or shine).

The 3.6 mile journey begins at 9 a.m. and winds past the exteriors of numerous historic homes and buildings that were once part of William K. Vanderbilt's Idle Hour Estate. A brief written history will be provided to all participants at the starting line and markers will be posted at historical sites. Historical highlights include the Mansion, Artist's Colony, Carriage House, Engineer's House and Power House, to name a few.

Registration costs $15 per person or a sponsorship of $25 or more, which includes a commemorative T-shirt. Children have the option to participate at no cost. For more information, please contact the Walk/Run Hotline at 631-244-3008.
