Dowling Announces Post-Bachelors' Certificates in Three Key Business Areas: Financial Planning, Human Resource Management and Project Management
Working adults can advance their careers with three new post-bachelors' certificate programs offered at Dowling College in the areas of Financial Planning, Human Resource Management and Project Management. Beginning in September, the courses will be held on Saturdays at the College's historic Rudolph Campus in Oakdale and during the week at its business center location in Melville.
Dowling's Certificate in Financial Planning is designed for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in the financial planning profession or who are interested in becoming a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). Financial planners help individuals plan their financial futures, drawing upon their knowledge of investments, taxes and estate planning issues.
The Certificate in Human Resource Management is designed for individuals seeking to enhance or advance their careers, for those who are pursuing a career change or promotion, or for managers planning to pursue certification in the human resource profession. Topics covered include: labor relations, compensation benefits, conflict management, employment law, training and development, ethical regulations and organizational leadership.
The Certificate in Project Management provides students with the knowledge and tools to manage complex projects that are completed on time, within budget, and meet the needs of the organization. The certificate program includes courses in project management, risk management, as well as the behavioral concepts necessary for the successful motivation of the project participants.
Dr. Debra L. Fleming, Dean of the Paul and Terry Townsend School of Business, said that these programs have been designed to support the College's mission of providing graduate students with an education that meets the needs of businesses throughout Long Island because they focus on professional development opportunities to meet growing employment opportunities in the areas of financial planning, human resources and project management. The Project Management and Human Resource Management certificates consist of five, three-credit-hour courses offered at the graduate level, while the Financial Planning certificate requires six, three-credit-hour courses, also at the graduate level.
