Dowling College Hosts 'Row for Life' Challenge to Benefit American Cancer Society

On Sunday, March 5, 2006, the Dowling College Golden Lions will host "Row for Life," an indoor rowing challenge for anyone interested in a fun way to raise money for cancer research. Former German National Team Rower Anika Selle and Head Coach Peter Lee will be on-site teaching people how to row.

Athletes, students, faculty, administration, adults, community members, children and families are encouraged to participate in this day-long event. The benefit will feature an outside walking area, complimentary food, a kid's corner, raffle, entertainment and well-deserved encouragement from the Dowling College Cheerleading Squad. Pledges can be made for distance rowed ($4 for every 200 meters or $20 per kilometer) and flat donations are also welcome.

The schedule of events begins with pre-registration at 10 a.m. for those who have never rowed before. The "Row for Life" challenge starts at 11:15 a.m. and culminates at 3:00 p.m. when the final times are recorded. After the closing ceremony, the amount raised will be announced.
