Shirley Resident Receives Roslyn Savings Foundation Scholarship At Dowling College
Christie Baggee, a resident of Shirley, NY, has received a $1,250 Roslyn Savings Foundation Scholarship from Dowling College. The funds were made available by a grant given to Dowling College by the Roslyn Savings Foundation through an endowed scholarship in 2002.
The scholarship, which strives to help underprivileged students gain entrance into college and obtain their degrees, is awarded to an undergraduate student, with priority placed on students majoring in Accounting or Finance in the School of Business. The recipient must have a high school grade point average of at least 2.5, and demonstrate financial need through the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
"Christie excels in the classroom and is involved with many other projects as well. We are pleased to have the opportunity to assist such a promising young student through this scholarship," commented Ms. Sharon G. Grosser, the Executive Director of the Roslyn Savings Foundation.
Christie Baggee attended William Floyd High School and is currently pursuing a Bachelor's of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree in Accounting at Dowling College. Christie volunteered in the guidance office at William Floyd High School and provided assistance at career fairs and other school events. She placed third in a prestigious Long Island Business Education Council contest for her keyboarding skills.
