Dowling Welcomes Allen Planz, Famed Local Poet

Dowling College will welcome Allen Planz, former poetry editor of The Nation and a former Poet-in-Residence at the Walt Whitman Birthplace, as he reads from his works on November 30 at 4:00 p.m. in the Ballroom of Fortunoff Hall, at the Oakdale Campus. The reading is free and open to the public.

Professor Virginia Walker, organizer of the event, will join Planz in poetry reading.

Planz, a licensed captain of commercial and sport-fishing vessels, is the author of many volumes of poetry, including Dune Heath, A Night for Rioting, and Giving These Words. His poetry has appeared in journals such as Long Pond Review and Wild Dog. He lives in East Hampton.
