The Dowling College Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Kerri McCabe as head coach for Dowling College women's soccer team. The club team began play in the fall of 2003 and has been elevated to varsity status for the fall of 2005. McCabe brings a great deal of soccer experience and game knowledge with her to Dowling. She played four years (1998-2001) at Stony Brook University where she was a captain her junior and senior years. In 2000, she was named the Independent Player of the Year and earned Team MVP honors. During her time at Stony Brook University, McCabe earned a bachelor of arts in social sciences interdisciplinary and a master's in liberal arts.

Currently, McCabe is a member of the Long Island Lady Rough Riders and has been with the team since 2000. The midfielder is ranked second on the team with eight points (two goals, four assists) on the season so far and was third on the team in 2004 with 14 points.

In March of 2002, McCabe became the soccer trainer for the Patchogue-Medford U14 and U12 girls travel soccer teams. In addition, McCabe has been a Soccer Camp Coach at the Lady Riders Camp since 2000. McCabe was also a member of the New York Empire State Games soccer team (2001-2003).

"We are very excited to have Kerri as part of the Dowling College family," said Director of Athletics Rick Cole, Jr. "She is a tremendous athlete and had a terrific career at Stony Brook and with the Lady Rough Riders. Kerri possesses all the skills and attributes to build a winning women's soccer program."

McCabe was a volunteer for the Read Across America program (2000-2003) and Toys for Tots (2000-2001), as well as a coordinator for the National Girls and Women in Sports Day (2002, 2003) and the Thanksgiving Food Drive (1999-2003). Academically, McCabe was on the America East Conference Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll from 2001-2003 and Stony Brook's University Deans list for eight semesters.

McCabe attended Sachem High School, where she was a standout athlete, and currently resides in Farmingville, NY.
