Dr. Linda Ardito Named Honorary President, International Association for Greek Philosophy


Dr. Linda Ardito, Dean of Dowling College's School of Arts & Sciences, was named Honorary President of the International Association for Greek Philosophy.
Dr. Linda Ardito, Dean of Dowling College's School of Arts & Sciences, was named Honorary President of the International Association for Greek Philosophy (IAGP) for her scholarly contributions to the promotion of the study of Greek culture, philosophy and music.

In a correspondence from IAGP President Konstantine Boudouris, Dr. Ardito was commended for her scholarship and love of Greek culture, philosophy, and music, with particular reference to her work with the IAGP and its International Philosophical Conferences. Dr. Ardito received her honorary diploma at the IAGP Conference in Greece on August 2, 2005.

Dr. Ardito has served in a variety of capacities during her tenure at Dowling including Associate Provost of the School of Arts & Sciences, Chair of the Department of Music, Executive Chair of the Dowling College Faculty, Academic Chair of the Arts and Humanities Division, and Co-Chair of the 2001-2002 Annual Theme celebrating the "Contributions of Italians and Italian-Americans to American Culture."

Dr. Ardito holds a Ph.D. and an M.Phl. degree in Music from the Graduate School and University Center of the City University of New York. She also holds a B.A. in Music and an M.A. degree with a double major in Music Theory and Musicology from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College of the City University of New York.
