Fulbright Scholarship Board Approves Dr. Walter Rosenthal as Candidate for Senior Specialists Roster

Dr. Walter Rosenthal, Professor of Marketing at Dowling College, has been approved for candidacy on the Fulbright Senior Specialists Roster, making him eligible to be matched with incoming program requests from overseas academic institutions.

According to a letter on behalf of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FSB), the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Department of State (ECA), and the Council for International Exchange Scholars (CIES), Dr. Rosenthal is considered a potential match for educational program requests that require someone in his field with his level of expertise. Through the Specialists program, Dr. Rosenthal could receive two- to six-week grant opportunities and will remain on the Fulbright Senior Specialists Roster for up to five years.

Dr. Rosenthal has served the College as Interim Dean of the Paul and Terry Townsend School of Business, Chair of the Marketing Department and Executive Chair of the Faculty. Before embarking on a distinguished teaching career at the college level, he operated his own advertising agency and served as marketing director at large corporations. Dr. Rosenthal earned a Ph.D. at New York University.

In 1996, Dr. Rosenthal was awarded the Sir John Ormond Visiting Fellowship and taught at Lincoln University in Christchurch, New Zealand. He has delivered papers at academic conferences around the world, including the 2005 Global Business and Technology Association meeting in Lisbon and his articles on consumer marketing have been published in leading academic journals. Fifteen years ago, he helped to develop the Dowling College Accelerated MBA program. It was the model for Dowling MBA Programs in Moscow and in China, where Dr. Rosenthal taught graduate marketing courses. He is a resident of Jericho, Long Island.
