'Vietnam Adventure: Personal Stories of Transition' Presented at Dowling College

Join Ms. Nga Ivory Ho and Mr. Cong Jonathan Nguyen as they talk about their personal immigration experiences from the 1970s when Dowling College presents: Vietnam Adventure: Personal Stories of Transition on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at 4 p.m. in the Hunt Room of Fortunoff Hall on Dowling College's Rudolph Campus in Oakdale. This event is part of Dowling's yearlong celebration of Asian culture and is free and open to the public.

Moderated by Dr. Parnel Wickham, Professor of Special Education, Dowling College, the program will begin with an historical overview of the country by Dr. Michael Krysko, Assistant Professor of History, also from Dowling College. Following the presentations by Ms. Ho and Mr. Nguyen, Thanh-Tam Ho will offer a personal account of being raised in the United States following her mother's immigration. Dr. Thomas Wickham will introduce the speakers while telling his own story of volunteer service in Vietnam in the 1960s. The presentation will culminate with a sampling of traditional culinary delights prepared by Mr. Nguyen's wife, Ngoc-Anh, who is a Vietnamese chef.
