Famed Artist Arnold Chang To Discuss Asian Art History, Demonstrate Painting Techniques At Dowling College

World-renowned landscape painter Arnold Chang will
lecture on his work and demonstrate his technique on Wednesday, April 6
from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. in the Fortunoff Hall Hunt Room at Dowling
College\'s Rudolph Campus in Oakdale. This event is part of Dowling\'s
yearlong celebration of Asian culture and is free and open to the
public.
Chang (a.k.a. Zhang Hong) studied traditional painting and
connoisseurship in New York with C.C. Wang, and art history with James
Cahill at the University of California, Berkeley. His works have been
exhibited throughout the United States, as well as in Shanghai, Beijing,
Taipei, Hong Kong, and at the Guggenheim Museums in New York and Bilbao,
Spain.
Chang previously taught Chinese art at the University of Colorado and
San Francisco City College, has organized several exhibitions, and is
the author of the book, "Painting in the People\'s Republic of China:
the Politics of Style", as well as numerous exhibition catalogues and
articles on Chinese painting. Chang served for many years as Vice
President and Director of Chinese Paintings at Sotheby's. He is
currently a painting specialist at Kaikodo, a New York gallery featuring
Asian art.
