Oakdale's Kip Stephens Inducted Into Dowling College Athletic Hall of Fame

Kip Stephens, an accomplished martial artist who taught at Dowling College for ten years as an adjunct assistant professor of physical education in martial arts, was honored at the College's annual Athletic Alumni Reunion Dinner and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on October 8 at West Lake Inn in Patchogue.

Stephens, who played one year on the Dowling lacrosse team, made huge contributions to both the school and athletic department. In 2000, he was inducted into the American Federation of Martial Arts Hall of Fame. Stephens gives private and group lessons in self-defense and martial arts while also working as a special education assistant for BOCES at Jefferson Academic Center in Port Jefferson. He resides in Oakdale, NY.

The other 2004 Dowling Hall of Fame inductees are: Jerry Lee, '73 Men's Basketball, Karrie Farrell, Softball, Oliver Adam, '02 Men's Crew, and Greg Sarra, Baseball. The 1997 Men's Crew Varsity Eight was honored as the Team of the Year. Chris Pendergast, founder of Ride For Life, received the Golden Lions Community Service Award.
