Susan Ehmann and Kellyann Gayer, reading teachers in the Smithtown School District, provided an informative and inspirational presentation entitled, Using Picture Books to Teach Children the Craft of Writing, for members and guests of the Alpha Upsilon Alpha Reading Honor Society on Wednesday, April 26, 2006. The presenters are in the process of publishing their work addressing the use of mentor texts in a writing workshop setting. Both presenters graduated from the Dowling College MS in Literacy Education Program.
