Three successful graduates of Dowling's Sport Management program
recently spoke to current students about their internships at Dowling
and careers since graduation. All reported that they landed their
full-time jobs following internships at the organization.
Kevin Kline, searched extensively on his own for an internship that
suited him best. He found it at the Metropolitan Golf Association. He
now works at this leading sports organization full time and loves it.
Kline advised students, "You have to be a sponge in the sport business
world in order to soak up information".
Eric Realander, who works in ticket sales for the New York Mets,
described his job and explained how important it is to work hard to
represent your organization in the best way possible. "You have to be
dedicated and put in long hours every day," he said.
Larry Torres, a 1995 graduate and the veteran of the group, discussed
his work for Madison Square Garden, including handling public relations
for the New York Liberty. Larry assured those in attendance that hard
work done in an internship or entry level job would eventually be
rewarded.
Tobias Thomas, a current Dowling student who attended this event said,
"Education, business, and sports, can stand alone by themselves, but
when one combines the three together, it will become an dynamic process
that only a person with potential can handle."
Sport Management at Dowling is still in its early stages, with just 16
total graduates. To have three successful students come back to Dowling
to share their experiences is a tremendous benefit to those who will
follow in their footsteps.
