Amanda Capucchio and Chris Ramirez work together on their ice-breaker activity, People Bingo.
On Friday, January 14, 2005 the Student Government Association Executive Board and the Senate Leaders (Club and Class Presidents) set off to their leadership conference in Providence, Rhode Island. The purpose of the conference was to review the goals that were set at the summer conference and to work together to develop a program for a successful Spring 2005 semester. The weekend consisted of presentations from SGA President, Tamethiea Bradley, Vice President for Finance, Victor Hernandez, Vice President for Administration, Matthew Ventimiglia, Vice President for Activities, Tim Ring and a review of Parliamentary Procedures by the Chairman of the Student Review Board, Danielle Frey. Team building activities were included to stress the importance of two-way communication as a group. The activities were led by Madeline Badami, Coordinator of Residence Life and Student Activities.

From left to right: Russ Ainbinder, Erica Turano, Stavros Louros, Kim Corrian, Victor Hernandez and Katelyn Murray had less than 30 seconds to design a car. Nice Job!!
Dr. David Ring, Ronnie MacDonald and Madeline Badami facilitated student Focus Groups that tried to get a better understanding of student opinions of the college community. The ideas discussed will lead to creating a better sense of community on campus. These ideas and opinions will be shared with the various planning g groups at Dowling to help guide the development of the college community.

Ronnie MacDonald, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs spoke to the Senate and Executive Board members about our Alumni Association and the importance of student leaders becoming alumni leaders. The students gave their thoughts on what they believed would attract new graduates to the Alumni Association and its events.

Ronnie MacDonald, Asst. VP of Student Affairs, and Director of Alumni Relations, works with Senate and Executive Board members on developing relationships with alumni.
A session led by Dr. Ring and Madeline Badami focused on improving our student newspaper, The Lions Voice. Senate and Executive Board members offered to volunteer in assisting our new Editors, Caroline Cosgrove and Heini Suokari, in providing strong, student centered articles to make the paper more attractive to our students. Members who have offered to help are Patrick Long (President of the Paintball Club), Russ Ainbinder (President of the Science Exploration Club), Nicole Martignette (President of the Council for Exceptional Children Club), Al Kennedy (President of the Psychology Club), Rohit Tripathi (President of the Computer Club), Clayton Bodkyn (President of the Sports Management Club), Tamethiea Bradley (S.G.A. President), Tim Ring (Vice President for Activities), Blair MacDonald (Senior Class President), Kim Corrian (Brookhaven Dorm Council President), and Joe Cimino (Junior Class President). As always, more volunteers would be appreciated.

Victor Hernandez, SGA VP of Finance, knows what it means to be a team player.
As an added bonus, the Indianapolis Colts were staying in the hotel where the SGA conference took place. After the conference concluded its workday, many SGA members received autographs from the Colts. We all wished the Colts good luck, but unfortunately that luck was not carried over on the playing field on Sunday. Regardless, our students were all star struck and it made the conference a more memorable experience. Our executive Board and Senate members left the conference ready to take on the Spring 2005semester with enthusiasm for expanding a quality student activities program and the primary goal of representing Dowling's students to all campus constituencies.
