BROAD SCOPE OF POSITION:
  • The Delta Air Lines Flight Safety Department is seeking aviation interns for the 2005 calendar year. We will select 3 interns, and each intern will work for a consecutive 4-month period to mirror a normal semester. This will be a rewarding experience for any student as they will be offered more opportunities to see more of the operation than most standard internships. • Work with Flight Safety Investigators and learn the duties and responsibilities of this job.
  • Work with pilot operational reports and enter reports in our database to track and trend aviation hazards.
  • Work as an analyst in the FOQA (Flight Operations Quality Assurance) office. As an analyst you will examine real-time flight data from recorders and then trend the data and detect operational hazards.
  • Work with the ASAP program as it is initiated.
  • Attend pilot ground school in a select fleet to gain awareness of pilot duties and CRM issues.
  • Gain exposure to flight operations duty pilot functions, dispatcher duties and responsibilities, pilot training requirements and almost every facet of the airline operation!
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Career goal to reflect continuing in the aviation field where this internship education will benefit aviation and the individual.
  • Able to self support in the Atlanta area during the internship.
  • Available for the entire 4-month period with no extended leave periods.
  • Be of the highest caliber individual (due to the sensitivity of FOQA data and airline confidentiality requirements).
  • Represent your institution at Delta Air Lines as the one personally chosen through the screening process.
PRIVILEDGES:
  • Travel privileges

Delta will invest much time and resources to make this a rewarding and "once in a life time" experience for each intern. We expect that individuals aspire to fulfill every expectation, as we will strive to exceed all of theirs.

"The Flight Safety department has taken proactive steps to ensure a very rewarding internship that will allow a student of aviation to manifest his or her knowledge to an unseen level."

"So there I found myself, briefing supervisors and Flight Safety investigators about the risk assessment project. At the end of the briefing session, the decision was made to approve the project and an insert be made in the IOC (Investigator-On-Call) manual."
