How to Change Your Password

Note: these instructions apply to passwords in Email, Network and Student Records System, all of which are linked. You must change your Blackboard password in the Blackboard system.

The easiest way to change your password is to do it in your Dowling email account. If you don't know your password, then first you'll need to reset it at http://username.dowling.edu. When you're ready:

  • Login to the Dowling Email System,
  • Click the Options button (top-right, middle button),

  • In the Options screen,
    1. click the Password button,
    2. Fill in the fields: old password, new password, confirm,
    3. Click Save.
    4. Click Close.

You can also change your password in the Computer Labs:

  1. Login at any PC,
  2. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del,
  3. Click the Password button,
  4. Leave the left Resource section alone - DOWLINGTREE is selected,
  5. Complete the fields on the right: old password, new password, confirm new password,
  6. Click OK,
  7. On the window that says, "Password was successfully changed for all resources" click OK.

You should choose your password with care:  good-passwords.html.
