Urban League of Long Island, Inc.
The mission of the Urban League movement is to
enable African-Americans and other underrepresented individuals to
secure economic self-reliance, parity and power, and civil rights.
The Urban League of Long Island provides a broad range of services to meet the needs of disadvantaged
Long Island citizens including: Youth Education and Training, Workforce
Development, Health and Human Services, Community Involvement and
Development.
Verizon Foundation
Dowling has received a $15,000 grant from the Verizon
Foundation to augment programs offered at the Center
for Minority Teacher Development and Training, which operates
at the College's Oakdale and Brookhaven campuses. "The mission
of the Center for Minority Teacher Development and Training is so
important for the future of Long Island and we are excited to lend
our support," commented Judith Schillaci, Verizon's Director
of Community Affairs for Long Island.

Opportunity Council of Suffolk, Inc.
The
Economic Opportunity Council of Suffolk, Inc.
is a multi-service agency that has been serving the community for
more than 30 years. We provide a variety of services to residents
of Suffolk County, New York by using all available resources. We work
in partnership with federal, state and local governments as well as
communities and funded agencies. We help to remove obstacles and solve
problems; thereby enabling individuals and families to attain the
skills, knowledge and opportunity needed to achieve maximum potential
and sustainable self-sufficiency
