Insert Our Library's Holdings Into Google Book Search
This nifty little plug-in, originally written by Ed Vielmetti, inserts information about our library's holdings into Google Book Search results.
If you haven't heard, Google has been developing its Book Search with several large universities, New York Public Library, and several publishers. As a result, you can search their catalogs and see either a snippet of text that shows your search terms, a selection of pages, or a simple catalog record.
For some books, there is a link to "Find this book in a library." While that's good, we think you want to know right off the bat if Our Library has it. If you do, just follow these steps:
- Download and install Greasemonkey
- Download and install this plug-in
Now when you use Google Book Search, you'll see a link under the title of the book that will tell if you we have it or not. If we have it, and it's out, the link will tell you that too!
