Integrating Articles and ebooks Into Blackboard
Durable links (also known as persistent URLs) can be used to link directly to a full-text article or ebook in many of our subscription databases.
These links can be used in a number of ways, including in:
- a Blackboard class
- the Reserves section of the Library catalog
- the bibliography of an online paper
- your personal Dowling College web page
- an e-mail
- anywhere else you can place a hyperlink
The right to link into these databases for "fair use" purposes is already covered by the license agreements with the vendors.
Access will be available only to current students and members of the Dowling community. Clicking on a link will prompt you for a Library ID barcode.
Not every database will provide you with a durable link to an article, and those that do will present it in different ways. Instructions and examples are provided for some of the most useful and highly used databases that support linking. For help with linking to articles in any of our databases, contact Chris Kretz, Reference Librarian, at kretzc AT dowling.edu or x3396.
